Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) was developed to treat borderline personality disorder but is now widely used for emotional dysregulation, self-harm, and other intense emotional difficulties. It combines CBT techniques with mindfulness and acceptance strategies.
DBT is structured across four skill modules: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. It can be delivered individually, in groups, or both. Your therapist will teach concrete skills to manage intense emotions.
